Hanwei Spontoon (XH2036) |
Points: 6
|
The Spontoon was developed in the second half of the 17th century, more as an officer's signaling device than a weapon, although it undoubtedly saw its share of action in hand-to-hand fighting. Our Spontoon is an accurate replication of the British 1800 pattern, a regulation-issue piece carried by color sergeants as late as 1830. The head and tail-piece only are provided. Our ash poles (OX005) may be used to complete the assembly. Total head length is 27". Sold Out

Cold Steel Pilum Spear (95PLMS) |
Points: 3
|
COLD STEEL canceled this project
For many centuries, the Pilum was the preferred spear of the Roman Legionnaire. Primarily this was because of its extreme effectiveness. It was fashioned in two parts; a long iron shaft with an integral point, and a sturdy wood handle attached by a simple rivet. It was usually carried in pairs and thrown in coordinated volleys at close range in a tactical attempt to impede and/or break up charging infantry by either killing them outright, or striking their shields, creating a tangled steel and wood mess, that effectively made their shields worthless as defensive weapons. Hanwei Bamboo Butterfly Yanone (XH2230) |
Points: 2
|
Our Japanese arrowheads (yanone) are faithfully reproduced from originals in museum collections. Some yanone were strictly utilitarian while others, like most of these examples, were beautifully pierced and decorated and used primarily for presentations and temple offerings. Most pieces fall into one of several broad groupings. The Torii, Dharma, Monkey Moon and Bamboo Butterfly fall into "Willowleaf" pattern, while the Swimming Dragon, Watakusi, Sakura and Fudo follow the Flesh Terror (Barbed) profile. The Karimata, Dragon Cloud, Boar's Eye and Tiger Dragon are crafted in what is known as the "Rope Cutter" style, though it is more likely that this profile was used for hunting big game rather than cutting ropes. These arrowheads, either singly or in groups, are outstanding collectibles and conversation pieces. Also available is the arrowhead display stand (OH2235) to showcase up to 6 arrowheads.
