Munich Sword Windlass
Dating to around 1600, this German military cut-and-thrust sword with a swept hilt is a classic example of the type carried by the Munich Town Guard. Authentic examples of this sword can be found in prestigious collections such as the Wallace Collection and the Bavarian National Museum. Designed for practical use, this sword features a slightly shorter blade and a robust hilt, making it ideal for breaking up street fights and tavern brawls—common duties for the town guard. The well-tempered 1080 high carbon steel blade ensures durability and performance. The steel pommel and guard, combined with a wooden grip wrapped in twisted steel wire, provide a secure and comfortable hold.
This historically accurate replica is one of the most practical and widely used swords of its era, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of European arms. Scabbard included.
