Expertly handcrafted in a small town in the Longquan mountains of China’s Zhejiang province, this sword continues a tradition of master swordmaking that dates back over 2,000 years. Each component is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans using time-honored techniques passed down through generations.
The blade is pattern-welded and carefully heat-treated, achieving a Rockwell hardness of 40-45 HRC along most of the blade and about 35 HRC near the guard. A simulated hamon is skillfully applied by an experienced craftsman, and every blade is sharpened to perfection, each must cleanly slice through a sheet of paper before leaving the workshop.
The tsuba and pommel are adorned with Japanese water dragon motifs, ancient symbols of good fortune and prosperity. These fittings, including the fuchigashira (collar next to the tsuba), are crafted from brass and finished with an antique patina. The handle features genuine rayskin wrapped in traditional cord for an authentic grip.
The wooden scabbard is finished in flat black with a striking gold sand pattern, adding elegance and distinction.
A storage bag is included for protection and safe keeping.
