Shogun Kiji Katana Windlass |

Handcrafted in a small town nestled in the Longquan mountains of China’s Zhejiang province, this sword embodies a 2,000-year legacy of skilled swordmaking. Every component is expertly crafted by highly skilled smiths using centuries-old methods.
The blade is forged from 1095 high carbon steel and undergoes differential clay tempering using traditional techniques. This results in a spine with a Rockwell hardness of 45-48 HRC and a harder cutting edge at 56-58 HRC. This ancient tempering method creates the distinctive hamon, the visible temper line left when the clay is removed. Each blade is meticulously honed and must cleanly slice through a sheet of paper before leaving the workshop.
The tsuba and pommel feature the Pheasant, an ancient Japanese symbol of harmony and the national bird of modern Japan. The tsuba, pommel, and fuchigashira (the collar next to the tsuba) are crafted from brass and given an aged finish. The grip is genuine rayskin wrapped with traditional cord.
The wooden scabbard is painted matte black with glossy "raindrop" accents, adding a unique and elegant touch.
This exceptional katana includes a cotton storage bag, as well as a comprehensive cleaning and maintenance kit for the care of Shogun Katanas. The kit is presented in an elegant wooden box and includes:
A bottle of oil to protect the blade
A cloth for applying the oil
Rice paper to keep the blade free of dirt
Uchiko to loosen dust
A hammer to manipulate the mekugis (wooden peg used to fix the blade to the handle of the katana)
