The Nordic warrior frequently carried several light Throwing Spears into combat. This style displays the narrow, sharply pointed head designed to pierce mail. Several spears might be carried in the shield hand in a charge. These were thrown as the distance closed, leaving the warrior free to use his sword or axe in hand-to-hand fighting.

Wind & Thunder Wakizashi by Hanwei. This new cutting wakizashi from CAS/Hanwei is designed specifically for the martial artist that needs a sword for the demands of rigorous tameshigiri. The Wind & Thunder features a heavier and thicker blade with traditional furniture and fittings. The Wind & Thunder is fitted with the black iron Raiden tsuba and Tomoe motif fuchi and kashira. The handle is wrapped in genuine same (ray skin) and the tsuka-ito is premium Japanese black cotton. The saya is done in a traditional black laquer and the sageo is also black cotton. This sword is an excellent choice for those intereseted in batto-jutsu.

With a spring steel blade tapering to almost paper thin at the tip, it is very light (barely one pound), extremely fast and surprisingly loud in skilled hands. The Traditional Maintenance Kit from Hanwei is supplied with several of the higher end swords and is also available separately. The kit contains blade oil (traditional choji oil), rice papers, an oiling cloth, a powder ball for blade polishing, a brass awl and hammer and saya shimming veneer. The kit is contained in a fitted wooden box and full maintenance and handling instructions are included.

Designed by noted martial artist and teacher Scott M. Rodell, our Chinese Cutting Sword provides a purpose-built weapon for the art of cutting in Chinese Swordsmanship. Scott M. Rodell`s martial arts career includes over 25 years of training in Yang Style Taijiquan. He has trained under several noted Chinese masters, in both the U.S. and China. He is the founding Director of the Great River Taoist Center, headquartered in Washington D.C. with branches across the U.S., Russia, Estonia, Netherlands, Germany and Australia. Rodell is the author of "Chinese Swordsmanship, the Yang Family Taiji Jian Tradition" and "A Practical Guide to Test Cutting for Historical Swordsmanship", both of which are highly recommended.

Our Japanese kabuto and mempo are superbly constructed, beautifully detailed and a great value. Models SH2082/SH2083/SH2088 replicate the helms of the great Daimyo Takeda Shingen, Oda Nobunaga and Date Masamune respectively. Model SH2081, based on a museum piece of unknown provenance, doubles as an exquisite stand for a katana and wakizashi set. All four pieces are equipped with leather inserts allowing them to be worn. Custom designed wooden display stands are included.
