Hanwei Dragon Armour Helmet (AH2314) |
Points: 30
|
The original of the kabuto (helmet) of the Dragon Armour (AH2193) is interesting in as much as the bowl of the helmet came from the Momoyama period. The suji bachi style of bowl, with overlapped and riveted plates was typical of the finest helmet makers (katchu-shi) of this period, borne out by the signature of the Saotome smith 'Ienao' on the back plate. The menpo (mask) is a typical ressei men of the type made in Nara. Mounted on a solid wood display stand, this helmet will be an outstanding addition to any collection and will complement any décor beautifully.

Hanwei Dragon Cloud Yanone (XH2225) |
Points: 2
|
Our Japanese arrowheads (yanone) are faithfully reproduced from originals in museum collections. Some yanone were strictly utilitarian while others, like most of these examples, were beautifully pierced and decorated and used primarily for presentations and temple offerings. Most pieces fall into one of several broad groupings. The Torii, Dharma, Monkey Moon and Bamboo Butterfly fall into "Willowleaf" pattern, while the Swimming Dragon, Watakusi, Sakura and Fudo follow the Flesh Terror (Barbed) profile. The Karimata, Dragon Cloud, Boar's Eye and Tiger Dragon are crafted in what is known as the "Rope Cutter" style, though it is more likely that this profile was used for hunting big game rather than cutting ropes. These arrowheads, either singly or in groups, are outstanding collectibles and conversation pieces. Also available is the arrowhead display stand (OH2235) to showcase up to 6 arrowheads.

Hanwei Dragon Plaque (OH2334) |
Points: 24
|
This imposing plaque is a superb rendition of the Hanwei dragon, finely cast in stainless steel and mounted on a solid wood base. Chinese dragons have an entirely different reputation than their western counterparts; they are seen as symbols of prosperity and good will. This dragon in particular is of great age, wisdom, and power; evidenced by the long whiskers and four claws. The positioning of the feet at the four corners represents great stability. This is the perfect piece to preside over your store or dojo. Sold Out

Hanwei Early Medieval Single Hand - Tinker Pearce Blunt Trainer (SH2405) |
Points: 15
|
The Blunt Trainer early medieval sword features nearly identical handling of its sharp companion, but with thick edges (2mm) and a rounded tip for safe sparring practice.
Tinker Pearce has developed these matching longswords to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast, to have a matching set of sharp and blunt swords for cutting and safe training practice. The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. Teh very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed.
What others are saying about the Tinker Pearce Longswords:
"I had the opportunity to handle the prototype Tinker Pearce Line Longswords by CAS/Hanwei, and they are beautiful, well-balanced, quick-handling swords at an excellent price. The sharp and blunt versions handle almost identically in cuts, thrusts, and quick posta (guard) transitions. These promise to be the mid-priced training weapon of choice for longsword studies."

Hanwei Fuku Riu Katana (CH1655) |
Points: 70
|
The blades of each of the Fuku-Riu swords are hand-forged from K120C powder steel. The blade style for the katana is of the style of Unokubi-Zukuri, ½ blood grove with a re-enforced Kissaki. The wakizashi does not have a bo-hi. The saya is a blend of green and black polished lacquer, unique to this line and a first for the forge. High quality ray skin (same) is used on the tsuka of the katana and wakizashi. The tsuba of the katana daisho are crafted in traditional blackened iron with a detailed depiction of the Fuku-Riu dragon holding a smoky agate “pearl”. The fuchi and kashira are also of blackened iron. The kashira depicts a dragon claw also holding an agate “pearl”, the pearl being set so that it is free to rotate within the claw, yet another first for the forge.
Limited edition - only 150 pieces of katana and 75 pieces of wakizashi. Sold Out

Hanwei Fuku Riu Wakizashi (CH1666) |
Points: 50
|
Through Japanese history, dragons have been an integral part of the life and lore of Japan. This series has been designed to commemorate some of the most well know dragons found in Japanese myth and legend. Paul Chen’s Forge and designers have brought to life in this sword series not only a unique idea, but unique swords never before attempted in this genre.
Fuku – Riu - Japanese Dragon of Good Luck
Little is known of the Fuku-Riu. It is said, however, that if seen good fortune and luck will soon follow the beholder. The dragon is often depicted ascending heaven-ward, a sign of success in some circles. We have depicted this ascension in the Tsuba of the Fuku-Riu. The pearl being held by the dragon is also a sign of good luck and wealth. The design of this tsuba is a first for master sword maker Paul Chen and unique to this collection. The saya design is also unique to the series as it is a black-green blend…green being a color associated in Japanese history with luck. The Fuku-Riu dragon is rare in the literature of Japanese history but still a very important and integral part of the Tatsu Collection and a fitting first for this series.

Hanwei Gjermundbu Helmet (AH2190N) |
Points: 20
|
The Gjermundbu Helm is based on a classic Viking helm found in a Norwegian burial mound. Found in nine fragments, the helm has been re-constructed and is now housed in the Museum of National Antiquities in Oslo. It dates from around 970 A.D. and is considered to be the finest helm found from that era. The "spectacles" (officially "occularia"), provided excellent facial and nasal protection, while chain mail provided flexible protection to the back and sides of the neck. As with the original, our Gjermundbu helm is provided with a leather chin strap. Sold Out

Hanwei Gorin Iaito |
Points: 30
|
Iaito have long been the preferred training tools for safe practice of the many Japanese sword drawing arts typically known as Iaido. While not designed for sword-on-sword contact or actual test cutting, the un-edged iaito is perfectly weighted and balanced for its designed task of safe, repetitive drawing practice.
The Nami, Gorin, and Tsuru iaito are a breakthrough in design and functionality. Made of a special stainless steel, the blades are much more durable than iaito blades made from aluminum alloy, with a "live" feel and much superior rigidity. Through a special tempering process, these Iaito blades eliminate the brittle behaviour sometimes associated with stainless steel, while retaining its low maintenance and rust-resistant qualities. These very affordable Iaito are the ideal training tools for safely praciticing this ancient art.
