The Lion Dog Wakizashi features an O-Kissaki blade of Hanwei's own high-alloy HWS-1S steel, which combines superior performance with an outstanding O-choji hamon. This steel is made in Hanwei's new factory, with high-tech equipment, producing a very pure advanced-metallurgy blade with the best edge-holding capability and resilience of any blade ever produced by Hanwei. The outstanding performance characteristics of blades forged from HWS-1S steel derive from a combination of the careful selection of alloying elements and a complex processing procedure, basically involving the manipulation of the steel’s carbon content across the blade section. The single-hand Lionheart Sword is typical of the cruciform-hilt style of the crusading knights of Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries. The wheel pommel and slightly turned-down bow-tie guard make this a very attractive sword indeed! Iberia Swords are crafted in much the same way as swords were made centuries ago, except that the blades are now forged from high-carbon spring steel, a resource unavailable off-the-shelf to the smiths of the old. The blade finish is far from being polished, again more closely replicating what the medieval swordsmith was able to achieve. Except as noted, grips are leather-covered hardwood. Fittings are either steel or solid brass. Except, where shown all of these swords have scabbards of leather-covered fiberglass with steel lockets and chapes and removable suspension rings. These swords will appeal to the re-enactor who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.

Tinker Pearce has developed these matching longswords to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast, to have a matching set of sharp and blunt swords for cutting and safe training practice. The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dimantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if needed.

The M3 Trench Knife was standardized by the United Sates Army on January 14, 1943 to replace the 1918 Mark1 Trench Knife, carried over from WWI. The M3 was intended for issue to any soldier not equipped with a bayonet. Priority issue was given to the Airborne, Rangers, Mountain and Glider infantry Troops. Over 2.5 million M3 knives were produced by nine manufacturers during WWII, at an average cost to the government of $1.50. Some of the rarer versions sell today in the collector market for upwards of $1000.00!

One of the most recognized general issue knives of WWII, the USMC Fighting Knife is not only still in use today it has also become a symbol of the Marines who carry it. Also known as the Mark 2, after its Navy designation, the knife was fist issued in early 1943 and has been the standard fighting knife of the Marine Corps for more than 50 years. Originally designed as a hunting knife, the only change for the original military version was the application of a non-reflective matte black or gray phosphate finish. Iaito have long been the preferred training tools for safe practice of the many Japanese sword drawing arts typically known as Iaido. While not designed for sword-on-sword contact or actual test cutting, the un-edged iaito is perfectly weighted and balanced for its designed task of safe, repetitive drawing practice.
The Meijin Iaito (SH5018) is an amazing testament of the quality produced by CAS/Hanwei. The blade is forged-folded T10 high-carbon steel with grooves (bo-hi) on both sides of the blade, which allows for a lighter blade and audible feedback when swung. The blade is differentially tempered using a traditional claying method and has a beautiful grain pattern (hada) with visible layers. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine ray skin (same) and the tsuka-ito is premium black Japanese cotton. The black iron square tsuba, fuchi, & kashira are done in a "Turbulent Ocean" motif. The habaki is a one-piece brass construction. The saya is done in a beautiful black matte striped finish going the whole length of the scabbard and the sageo is black cotton. The Meijin Iaito represents the pinnacle of production quality for Iaito swords.
