Down Under Knives THE DEATH ADDER (DUKDA) |
Points: 12
|
With the power and chopping ability pretty well covered by the Outback and Red Rock Raptor, we turned our attention to speed. We set out to create the flat out fastest and best handling fighting knife we could come up with, with just the right balance and reach to compromise nothing. The result is the new Death Adder - like its reptilian namesake, capable of delivering a devastating strike in the blink of an eye. Sold Out

Down Under Knives RED ROCK RAPTOR (DUKRRR) |
Points: 12
|
Well, after several months of design work and prototyping, we believe we have done just that. The design of the Red Rock Raptor borrows elements from the legendary Kukri to get the raw speed and power necessary to chop through more or less anything that could conceivably need chopping through. The angle and width of the tip provides a natural stabbing point, while the smooth convex/concave transition of the edge gives you the durability of an axe and the sharpness and control of a whittling knife - both right where you need them, without detracting anything from each other. Down Under Knife The Kookaburra (DUKKB) |
Points: 14
|
The Kookaburra™ throwing / hunting / utility knife
The Kookaburra™ 440C stainless blade is heat treated to approximately RC52 to withstand the stress of repeated impacts - yet it still maintains a sharp edge so it can be used as a proper utility knife, unlike most throwers on the market today. Sharp enough to cut like any good hunting knife, heavy enough to chop like a full-size Bowie, and resilient enough to withstand continuous throwing practice, this blade is truly as versatile as they come. Down Under Knife The Bush Dagger (DUKBD) |
Points: 10
|
Now available: The Bush Dagger™ - the ultimate backup. We wanted to design a push dagger with a difference, and as far as we're concerned, this is as good as it gets. The unique blade design provides maximum penetration and cutting power, while the solid ebony handle and generous finger space allow positive control even when wearing gloves. We also wanted to get rid of the snagging and binding sheaths commonly seen on this type of knife, so we gave it a rock solid heavy leather belt scabbard. Worn on the small of the back, simply disengage the retaining strap in the same fluid motion you use to grab the handle and the knife is in your hand - in practically no time, every time. We figured when you need one of these, you seriously don't want to spend precious seconds fighting your knife first. Sold Out

Down Under Knife The Razorback (DUKRBK) |
Points: 15
|
We have seen a lot of heavy blade style hunting knives that got it almost right. In fact we've seen so many that we finally made it our mission to remove the "almost" part and see what this style is really capable of. Enter the Razorback™ - with all the features that worked and none of the awkward blockiness often associated with this kind of knife. Not satisfied with making yet another slab of metal with as many sharp angles as you can fit in 12 inches of steel, we elected to give it the pleasing curves and traditional materials our customers have grown to know and love in our other products. This one feels even better than it looks! Sold Out

Down Under Knives The Toothpick (DUKTP) |
Points: 18
|
We took the basic concept and gave it our trademark touch of classic styling and modern durability, with rust resistant materials and tough leather that feels as good as it looks. This isn't a replacement for a crowbar or an axe - it's a purebred fighting knife with the heft to get stuff done and the balance to make that weight all but disappear in your hands when you pick it up. Sold Out

Down Under Knife The Mistress (DUKMT) |
Points: 18
|
Here's one that we have been working on for quite a while. The mission was simple: push the limits and make the biggest, meanest blade that can still be reasonably called a knife, without compromising balance and usability in the slightest. To accomplish this, we started with the dimensions and basic lines of a colossal vintage Bowie dating from around 1858 and started hammering out prototype after prototype until it looked and behaved exactly like we wanted it. Not the easiest or fastest development process in the world, but with a knife this size you just can't slap something together in a CAD package and expect it to work. You have to feel it to know when you got it just right. Sold Out
