                            | In the early 1990s, Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson purchased a handmade Chinese tiger fork to add to his collection. He fitted it with an old rattan shaft and has been training with it ever since. Passionate about historical hunting accounts, Lynn came across numerous stories of Chinese hunters using these massive, forked tools to capture and kill big cats. He also had the pleasure of speaking with (and training alongside) Chinese martial artists about how this tool was adapted into a weapon of war and applied as a formidable fighting implement. After 20 years, Lynn finally introduced his own version of the combat tiger fork to modern enthusiasts.
Cold Steel’s interpretation of this classic martial arts training weapon features an elongated central spike to maximize thrusting potential and inward-curved outer prongs to increase the effectiveness of trapping and blocking techniques. By deftly twisting and turning the tiger fork in hand, a skilled practitioner can not only catch, parry, deflect, and entangle an opponent’s weapon, but also disarm, throw, and even lock their joints.
