Knife Spyderco/Byrd Flight G-10 |

The byrd Line of knives by Spyderco continues growing. 2005 saw the line`s debut which simply offered stainless handled folding knives. Fiberglass and G-10 handled folding knives, multi-tools and sharpening devices have since been added. What sets byrds apart in the confusing world of cutlery, is they constitute the highest level quality available in China manufactured knives and tools, at the best price. The newly arrived BY05G G-10 handled Flight meets the byrd Line`s quality and price standards and offers a G-10 handle. G-10 is the whiz-kid of handle materials. A thin, light plastic laminate, it`s voraciously durable, doesn`t retain heat/cold, sloughs off chemicals and feels grippy even when your mitts are slippery wet or cold. Tucked inside the handle are dual steel liners, a mid-positioned lockback and file work on the spine. The blade is 8Cr13MoV: a knife industry designation of high carbon stainless steel similar to AUS-8 in performance and function. It`s a molybdenum/vanadium stainless alloy with high-levels of carbon for wear resistance and long-term sharpness. The clip-point blade is hollow-ground with an upswept tip and swedge grind on the spine. The clip carries right- or left-handed and tip-up. For added safety, a portion of the lock release is ground away. This feature was conceived by custom knifemaker David Boye and eliminates the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough to unintentionally release the lock.
